It was part of Manchester Metropolitan University until the Hollings campus was closed in 2013. Originally it was part of Domestic Trades College, and then Manchester Polytechnic. A developer bought the site in 2014, and there have been several plans for redevelopment of the Grade II Listed building since.
Concrete sculptures are individually hand cast in solid concrete. This means that each piece will have distinctive markings and minor blemishes due to air bubbles in the concrete. This is a natural part of the material and will mean that no two pieces are ever exactly the same.
