entre Point

Location: London, UK
Architect: Richard Seifert & Partners
Completed: 1966
Status: Category II Listed
Brief Overview: Centre Point is one of London’s most striking post-war skyscrapers, a bold example of 1960s speculative architecture designed by George Marsh of R. Seifert & Partners. Rising 117 meters above St Giles Circus, this Brutalist landmark was constructed using precast concrete segments, giving it its distinctive modular façade. Initially left empty for nearly a decade by property tycoon Harry Hyams, it became a symbol of both ambition and controversy—an ‘empty skyscraper’ that inspired the naming of the homeless charity Centrepoint. Now a Grade II listed building, Centre Point has undergone transformations from office space to luxury flats, yet its iconic presence remains a reminder of London’s ever-shifting architectural and social landscape.
