Morita MiW’s illustrations are an intimate reflection of her inner world — deeply personal and shaped by her unique sensibilities. Her work overflows with life, often featuring animals, plants, and other living beings. Since childhood, Morita has been fascinated by mysterious and supernatural creatures, and these otherworldly figures continue to appear throughout her art.

When thinking about mental health, Morita believes that every human heart holds both light and shadow. People carry a mixture of good and bad within themselves — those unkind thoughts and pessimistic feelings that seem to grow even when we want to let them go, and the unexpected optimism that can lead to bold, surprising actions. For her, no one is entirely good or entirely bad. Each moment reveals different sides of who we are — sly, weak, strong — and these constant shifts are proof that we are alive.

When meeting others, Morita sometimes finds herself thinking, “This person makes me so angry… but maybe that’s just their weakness,” and wonders if there’s something she can do to help. She believes that everyone carries both kindness and cruelty, hope and despair, always striving to find balance while moving forward.

This awareness naturally flows into Morita’s paintings. Many viewers have shared that her works seem to hold both darkness and light — a coexistence of positivity and negativity — which, to Morita, beautifully reflects the complexity of the human heart.
